Pit of the Unknown

Wandering through the garden
I meet the worms with no face
All among the Mulberry tree
So sweet, their teeth stained

I tell them hopes, I tell them dreams
I tell them who I want to be
And one by one
They spit the stems back at me

"Go home where it's safe
Don't stay out late
Where you're going
It ain't no piece of cake"

I am faced
With the Pit of the Unknown
And no one can tell me
Where I'm supposed to go

Deeper into the garden
I meet the bees of Aphrodite
Wings catching sunlight like fireflies
They sung this to me

"Use this honey to fill your hole
It may help but it won't be all
Let your hopes face reality
Then your dreams will stand tall"

In the distance the crows hang high
But why? Nobody knows
I swear though I saw in one's eye
A shine of flesh
Similar to mine

I am faced
With the Pit of the Unknown
And no one can tell me
Where I'm supposed to go
