The Girl and the Troubled Home

Here's a tale about a girl with a troubled home
She told me stories that shook me down to the bone
She devised a plan to escape her daddy's needs
She said, Are you the man that I need you to be

The next day she had that cold hard look in her eye
She brought me something that she knew her daddy would not like
He tried to stop her as she stormed right through the door
Raised the gun, then dropped the old man to the floor

She looked at me with blood dripping from her face
She said, We got to leave. I can't stand the smell of this place
She floored the gas as the tail lights faded black
We ran away with no intention of looking back
We ain't comin' back

We settled down, then settled for something less
Disguising actions with words that we never meant
My stomach churned as she stormed right through the door
Raised the gun, it went black before I hit the floor
