Intro
I'm gonna give you guys a little back history on how this album came about
And how Statues started
Around like 2005 2006 I met Jay
We went to middle school and high school together and
Back in the day we used to have ciphers in the lunchroom and the music room
That's actually how I met Jay and you know
That's how we grew our friendship over the love of hip-hop
2010 2011 Jay had a studio over on Golden Valley Road
You know we used to make music
Probably made dozens and dozens of music
Where that shit is today I have no idea
Around 2012 I had to make some changes in my life that
Made me have to put making music down
Summer of 2020 Jay hit me up and he was like
Hey Man I got this song
It sounds like something you'd be on can you do something to it
So I was like yeah man just send me over the beat
I'll see what I can come up with
Gears started turning and I actually ended up finishing that verse
Way quicker than I thought I would
Recorded that verse later that weekend
We laid it down
Jay drops the EP I think about a month or two later
And then an idea sparked in my head
I wanna make a Collab album because when we were making music on Golden Valley Road
Me and Jay were talking about making the Collab album like a group album
We started on it but you know nothing really came of it
So I hit Jay up and I'm like
Hey man you remember back in the day
How we had the idea for making the Statues album
Met up later that weekend
Started rummaging through beats
Spent endless amount of nights
Writing, recording, mixing, mastering
So ladies and gentlemen
I present to you
Statues
Set in Stone
Let's fucking go
