An Honest Man

There once was a guy who knew of no lies, he didn't even know the word
They couldn't conceive some things he believed, things them so absurd
He'd pull no punches even in the tough crunches, the facts were all that mattered
But it was he who received all the bunches that were heaved
Leaving him bruised, bloody, and battered. And, he's

An honest man, take a look if you can
There aren't many left to see
He tells the truth though you got no proof
You just shake your head and agree

These days he lives at home by himself, the joke of all his peers
While they whoop it up and laugh at him so
He pretends that he doesn't hear
'Cause he knows all along his beliefs make him strong
Nothing can tear them down
And it's he who laughs at the others so fake
To him they're as low as the ground. And, he's

An honest man, take a look if you can
There aren't many left to see
He tells the truth though you got no proof
You just shake your head and agree

Soon he knows his days will end, and he's looking forward to seeing
If the man in the sky is as just as he is wise, to every human being
Right now he'll just have to wait to see if that is true
And will have to go by the people he knows
Of course, one of them is you. And, he's

An honest man, take a look if you can
There aren't many left to see
He tells the truth though you got no proof
You just shake your head and agree
He's an honest man, one of few in the land
A rare and innocent breed
At peace with himself, the truth is his wealth
That's all he needs to be free
