For A While
As I am stuck behind this glass
I see the people walking past
They all are looking back at me
What to them seems like a stage
To me in fact feels like a cage
As I have nowhere else to be
Yet they seem to think that I am more than just a beast
In my eyes they recognize their own humanity
While they try to comprehend the meaning of my stare
All I wish for is to be among them there
Of all the tricks that I perform
There isn't one that doesn't work
They all just seem to make them smile
These walls around me are quite high
If I would climb them I could die
Then I have been for a while
There are many things I could become and I could be
In my climb they recognize their own mortality
Were I free than that would mean I'm free to be alone
In this cage I find this place to be my own
I see the people walking past
They all are looking back at me
What to them seems like a stage
To me in fact feels like a cage
As I have nowhere else to be
Yet they seem to think that I am more than just a beast
In my eyes they recognize their own humanity
While they try to comprehend the meaning of my stare
All I wish for is to be among them there
Of all the tricks that I perform
There isn't one that doesn't work
They all just seem to make them smile
These walls around me are quite high
If I would climb them I could die
Then I have been for a while
There are many things I could become and I could be
In my climb they recognize their own mortality
Were I free than that would mean I'm free to be alone
In this cage I find this place to be my own
