Rick’s Goodbye
Well it's 2 AM and here we are again sitting at O'Malley's Bar
The band stopped playing around 12 o'clock but we still haven't got very far
Telling lots of stories, drinking lots of beer; just generally carrying on
The bar keeper says won't you please go home but so far nobody's gone
Cause it's Rick's goodbye and the party is on. Nobody wants it to end
Yeah it's Rick's goodbye too soon he was gone
And we don't want to say goodbye to our friend
So we'll have another round for that egg suckin hound
And think about what he would say
Sing no sad songs for me for now my soul is free and I'm going to a better place
When we started playing; just a couple of kids dreaming we'd be rock and roll stars
Even though we never made it we still had lots of fun just banging on these old guitars
Every night was a party for the band on the stage as we played and sang and laughed
All night long
Now the stage lights will dim because we've lost our good friend
But we know we have carry on
Cause it's Rick's goodbye and the party is on. Nobody wants it to end
Yeah it's Rick's goodbye too soon he was gone
And we don't want to say goodbye to our friend
So we'll have another round for that egg suckin hound
And think about what he would say
Sing no sad songs for me for now my soul is free and I'm going to a better place
We played a lot of Country, played some Rock and Roll, played a little Gospel too
Rick told a lot of stories bout the good old days. I couldn't tell you if any were true
Proud he was our brother, proud he was our friend
Though we didn't always see eye to eye
So we'll drink another Miller before we head out that door
And watch him slowly fade out into the night
Cause it's Rick's goodbye and the party is on. Nobody wants it to end
Yeah it's Rick's goodbye too soon he was gone
And we don't want to say goodbye to our friend
So we'll have another round for that egg suckin hound
And think about what he would say
Sing no sad songs for me for now my soul is free and I'm going to a better place
Why don't we get drunk and screw
You know that he left that here for you
So we'll have another round for that egg suckin hound
And think about what he would say
Sing no sad songs for me for now my soul is free and I'm going to a better place
Sing no sad songs for me for now my soul is free and I'm going to a better place
