Hollow

It started with a spark
My careless mind tried to discard
And quickly grabbed all that it could

Clawing at the trees
It tore through years of quiet growth
With a scream to match the heat

So burn down everything, and let it all crumble to dust
That scatters in the wind, leaving the barren ground with
Hollow shells of what has been, stretching their bones into the sky
And waiting for the chance to breathe again

Beyond the charred facade
Deep down underneath the ground
Lies the will to never die

And with a splash of hope
They're all reaching for the sun
Climbing higher every time

So burn down everything, and let it all crumble to dust
That scatters in the wind, leaving the barren ground with
Hollow shells of what has been, stretching their bones into the sky
And waiting for the chance to breathe again

It's not the hand that threw the match that keeps the fires burning
But the frail and broken tinder which you left behind
And when the glow is all but gone and I am left there wandering
It's up to me to carry on

So burn down everything, and let it all crumble to dust
That scatters in the wind, leaving the barren ground with
Hollow shells of what has been, stretching their bones into the sky
And waiting for the chance to breathe again
