Juniper

Struggling with my identity
Discordant sounds in my melody
Feeling like death is right next to me
But juniper is my remedy
Struggling with my identity
Discordant sounds in my melody
Feeling like death is right next to me
But juniper is my remedy

Walked through the forest, got my thumb pricked by a thorn
Fell asleep, had a dream, woke up reborn
Looked into her eyes and fell in love within a second
Couldn't take my eyes off her, I'm stuck here I reckon
These midsummer nights never seem to end
She said she dreamt we fell in love, I said let's not pretend
You wanted me to chase you, couldn't move my legs fast enough
Can't feel my face I think it's time for backing up
But I don't want to, hit the gas, full throttle
Bitter words cut deep, like sharp glass from broken bottles
Couldn't get enough of the poison that you fed me,
Didn't want to stop drinking, now my head feels heavy
Having trouble standing steady, might fall if I'm not careful
The sidewalk that's gonna end us keeps getting more narrow

Took me ten minutes just to write one line
Juniper messing with my brain, think I need more time
I'm struggling, feel like I'm past my prime
Peaked at at a low altitude, might crash I'll be fine
Don't worry bout it, no need to ask or check up
People stressing over me that's one thing I need less of
One more thing to check off, throwing rocks at the mirror
If I do it hard enough will the glass shatter or will I be the one to disappear?
I can't really tell, neither here nor there
Look into a puddle and my reflection stares back at me
Streets crowded so I walk through a back alley
All the shadows looking like they want to attack me
Sunlight comes through, but I'm still unhappy

Struggling with my identity
Discordant sounds in my melody
Feeling like death is right next to me
But juniper is my remedy
Struggling with my identity
Discordant sounds in my melody
Feeling like death is right next to me
But juniper is my remedy, remedy, oh
