Tidal Waves

She was only a girl who had life to live
Compared to the other's in school
She was a little bit bigger but she was doing her best to fit in

And like a circus clown, she'd take the mocking things they said
Never told her parents 'bout the crazy shit
That was actually going through her messy head

And she left in grace, tryna find her way to the water
Hoping there was someone to stop her
But all she heard was tidal waves
And she went under till she drowned in vain
She got pulled away from the surface
The sweet escape from the hurting
Now all I hear is tidal waves and another one we've lost

He was a caring guy, he had the perfect grades
And twice a week, you would find him working hard at a local store
So he could pay his mother's bills

But the color of his skin was what he couldn't change
And that's when he started to obey the kids who kept on telling him
That he should leave, cause he was not from there

And he left in grace, tryna find his way to the water
Hoping there was someone to stop him
But all he heard was tidal waves and he went under till he drowned in vain
He got pulled away from the surface
The sweet escape from the hurting
Now all I hear is tidal waves and another one we've lost

How many more tragic stories are out there left to tell
Until a change will come
Before the damage is done
If only you would know how treating them well
Could save another son or a daughter on the run

So they wouldn't have left in grace as they found their way to the water
We would've been in time to stop them
Save them from a tidal wave that would take them under
Till they drowned in vain and got pulled away from the surface
The sweet escape from the hurting
Yet all I hear is tidal waves and another one we've lost
