WOD (War On Drugs)

It's not a war on drugs: it's a war on personal freedom

The War On Drugs has failed
For possession every 25 seconds someone's jailed
That someone's usually a black or brown male
Another innocent life derailed
It's time to end this bullshit war
That's been used for decades to devastate the poor
And ravage already heavily decimated communities even more
Locking people in cages isn't going to
Stop them from wanting to get high
Apparently you've already figured this out when
It comes to the rich cause you don't even try
You've lied to the public about drugs for 100 years
Manipulating us through our fears
And left us nothing but a century of pain,
Suffering, death, debt, and tears

The DEA is way more deadly than a blind driver on an icy highway
More deadly than a blocked airway. DARE to resist drugs? Yeah, okay
The drug war has caused more death and
Suffering than the drugs themselves ever could
It's well-understood that prohibition doesn't work
It never has and it never would
What makes you think you can keep drugs
Out the hood, out the cities, out the towns?
When you can't even keep drugs off maximum-security prison grounds
It's not a war on drugs: it's a war on person freedom
Keep that in mind at all times
It's absurd that possession of powders, pills,
And especially plants are considered crimes

One-million arrests last year in the U.S. just for possession
Non-violent users met with aggression
From the law enforcement profession
So if the drug war does more harm than good
Why not throw the whole thing in the trash?
Cause the government, cartels, prisons, politicians,
And cops are making way too much cash
If you want the War on Drugs to end become a legalization supporter
Customs and the DEA combined don't even stop
One percent of drugs from getting over the border
After decades of abject failure this mess
Is something we need to address
When it comes to ending the War on Drugs it's time to just say yes
