Glass In Front

Looking around me I see more than I want to
Feeling like less instead of what I once thought to
Be in this life they've given a lot to hold on to
But who I am now's not the same one that I knew

Look around they said, instead of looking down
But every time I've done that, I don't like what I've found
This skin I wear is mine indeed
My face is too, in certainty
But looking in the mirror at what I see
It's not what I like, who I want to be

When the day breaks, I find myself in another standoff
The glass in front will smirk and scoff I'll move along
Thinking I'd be better off, and looking like a step above
Wearing someone else's
Wearing someone else's

After looking around I can't look back down
My head's stuck on a swivel
Can't think, man it's a riddle
Am I looking for the world?
Nah, just some kind symbol
Maybe some kind of impulse
Yeah, something so simple

Milling about a group of like minded personnel
United and pushing forward, but they couldn't tell
Where they were going, why they were breathing, they weren't thinking
They keep walking and walking to ascend, walk and descend my friend without seeing the end

When the day breaks, I find myself in another standoff
The glass in front will smirk and scoff I'll move along
Thinking I'd be better off, and looking like a step above
Wearing someone else's
Wearing someone else's

I'll hustle but what's the goal?
Whose dream am I pushing towards?
I'll struggle, but I gotta know
Whose dream am I pushing for?

Look around they said instead of looking down
But every time I've done that I don't like what I've found
This skin I wear is mine indeed
My face is too, in certainty
But looking in the mirror at what I see
It's not what I like, who I want to be

Looking around me I see more than I want to
Feeling like less instead of what I once thought to
Be in this life they've given a lot to hold on to
But who I am now's not the same one that I knew

Looking like a step above
Wearing someone else's (When the day breaks)
Wearing someone else's (When the day breaks)

Look around they said instead of looking down
But every time I've done that I don't like what I've found
This skin I wear is mine indeed
My face is too, in certainty
But looking in the mirror at what I see
It's just what I like who I want to be
