Our Sacred Soil (feat. Celia Bond) [Spoken Word over Instrumental]
The sky looked truly amazing
In hues of crimson and red
'Twas the devil stoking the fires of hell
And his hunger would have to be fed
So Satan went up to the Rhondda
Seeking a soul for to steal
He searched in the hearts of the people
Looking for those who would kneel
In fear, they all ran before him
He brought terror wherever he trod
His voice boomed out o'er the valley
"Now tell me, where is your God"
Alone stood a broken old collier
Bent over from his years in the mines
"Satan" he called "I don't fear you
For I've met you so many times"
"I know not of you" roared Satan
Breathing fire whenever he talked
"No", cried the old man of Rhondda
"With good men you never have walked"
"But I've heard you in the coughing of colliers
As their lungs they were eaten away
Cutting coal from those cruel, dust filled faces
Working hard for their pitiful pay"
"Do your worst" sighed this old man of Rhondda
Those brave men have long ceased their toil
But their spirit will live on forever
This Welsh valley is our sacred soil"
With that the heavens they opened
And down poured a righteous hard rain
The devil he was soundly defeated
And sent back to his petty domain
It was then that the broken old collier
Looked up with a tear in his eye
And the souls of the miners of Rhondda
Looked down from their place upon high
In hues of crimson and red
'Twas the devil stoking the fires of hell
And his hunger would have to be fed
So Satan went up to the Rhondda
Seeking a soul for to steal
He searched in the hearts of the people
Looking for those who would kneel
In fear, they all ran before him
He brought terror wherever he trod
His voice boomed out o'er the valley
"Now tell me, where is your God"
Alone stood a broken old collier
Bent over from his years in the mines
"Satan" he called "I don't fear you
For I've met you so many times"
"I know not of you" roared Satan
Breathing fire whenever he talked
"No", cried the old man of Rhondda
"With good men you never have walked"
"But I've heard you in the coughing of colliers
As their lungs they were eaten away
Cutting coal from those cruel, dust filled faces
