Up All Night - Acoustic

Uh, I was born on December 13th
At 3:23 by Michael and Kathy
An ordinary child named after my grandpa
Donald Luke Boyd, young boy with the sampler
Hi, how you doin'? Have we been introduced?
I'm the guy you thought would never make it in the group
But I've been overcomin' obstacles since I was two
When my hearing was an issue and they filled my ears with tubes
I never talked 'til I was three years old
Then I had a speech impediment that kept me in the cold
Talkin' with a lisp, I guess somethin' like this
Now I talk for a living, funny how life gets
I never drank or smoked weed in high school, I was a late bloomer
For me personally puberty could have came sooner
I always seemed to be a couple years behind
But I'm coming to believe that everybody has a time

I've been up all night
Writing to the beat, trying not to fall asleep
And I know I'm gon' get things right
Tell the story of my life in the middle of the night
Hey ohh, I've been up all night
Lookin' back at how it was, reminiscing growing up
And I've trying to look back at what I've done
But I know that I've only just begun

I hide my needs from the world with a smile
Hide my needs from the world with a smile

I was born on December 18th
I came out pretty small, smaller than I may seem
Toronto black baby, that's kinda the main theme
And a lady too, doctor pulled me out to say cheese
Said hello to mom and dad and three sisters
It didn't take me long to recognize that we on the same team
A vegetarian yeah I never ate meat
I got singing lessons while my other sisters played keys
My neighbourhood was whack those white people thought
A family that's black shouldn't be there So they always make scenes
Break our windows call the cops
I'm on the debate team, I carry that on my back until i was 18
A tomboy all my life before I knew what gay means
I thought there's something wrong with me, try to cut out the gangrene
I know it all but never knew myself
But I solidify my sash because i always say some shit I ain't mean
A late bloomer who couldn't fathom a great future
But a straight shooter and couldn't have entertained sooner
Little bro making me beats now
Discovered off a site van and freestyle
I'm finally on the path to doing me now

I've been up all night
Writing to the beat, trying not to fall asleep
And I know I'm gonna get things right
Tell the story of my life in the middle of the night
Hey ohh, I've been up all night
Lookin' back at how it was, reminiscing growing up
And I'm trying look back at what I've done
But I know that I've only just begun

I hide my needs from the world with a smile
Hide my needs from the world with a smile
