Sharpening the Blade

I try to smile
But I'm just lost in the woods
Remembering the screams and cries and late nights
And the rushed tune lullabies
She sang of butterflies
And horses in my head
But when she left to go to the other side
I cried until the sunrise

I felt the blade begin to sharpen
I felt the room begin to darken
I felt my world starting to erase itself
As I wanted to erase myself
Yet here I am
I'm sharpening my blade once again

They bounced around
Going from room to room
Forgetting bout their youngest for a little while
As they began to reconcile
What did I do to earn this
What did he do to deserve this
What could they possibly have done
To protect their daughter and son

I felt the blade begin to sharpen
I felt the room begin to darken
I felt my world starting to erase itself
As I wanted to erase myself
Yet here I am
I'm sharpening my blade once again

And I
I always try
To forget what is
What was or could have been
But they
Come back with fire in their eyes
Trying to take my life

I felt the blade begin to sharpen
I felt the room begin to darken
I felt my world starting to erase itself
As I wanted to erase myself
Oh the blade began to sharpen
And that room began to darken
I felt my world starting to erase itself
As I wanted to erase myself
Yet here I am
I'm sharpening my blade once again
