Don't Run

This one's for the dreamers
Keep chasing
Wrote it in pen and then I made it happen
Everybody can talk, but few about the action
Good career to rapping, yeah who would imagine
Engineer to savage, they asking what happened
Like a rolling stone, had no satisfaction
Wore my heart upon my sleeve, the saddest of fashions
I settled a while because it paid the bills
But it cost me some peace, I wanted more still
What's the price of your soul, there's not enough mills?
The cheap thrills will leave you cold as the wind chill
People saying be real, will get your dreams killed
But I ain't buying the message, screaming no deal
Haunted by greater visions, I wanted more from life
Office felt like a prison, was serving 9 to 5
Living life in reverse, but knew I had the drive
I wanna thrive, I ain't out here just trying to survive

Got 'em scratching their heads like it ain't adding up
Nah, you see, you're subtracting the thing that I love
Can't put a price on a passion, no matter what the sum
Life's about more than numbers, yeah they just ain't enough
My friends shook, and family spooked, yeah what a scandal
Guess rapping was outta question, they wanting answers
Never really knew me so they think it's random
I just got tired of judging me by your standards
Tired of losing, at what you're doing, now I'm choosing
Yeah, it's time to put me first, my conclusion
The illusion was translucent, I saw through it
Didn't like what it offered, I'll start my own movement
Making music and moving, towards better days
And if that makes me a nuisance, then I'll accept the blame
Yeah, might sound kinda foolish, but I got different aims
Tired of playing these games, we just not built the same
