Ring by Spring

It seems everyone I know is getting married
Guess it's just that time of year
And I'm always a big fan of weddings
But sometimes it's hard to be sincere

'Cause if it were me with a ring on my finger
There wouldn't be so many tears of joy
'Cause how could such a beautiful girl
Not be marrying a boy

And I hate that we have to hide
From the eyes of those who love us
But when I'm laying by your side
I have no regard for who's above us

Most of my family would reject me
Even some of my friends
It makes me sick to think how they would all pray
For my sickness to end

And I can't even bring you to thanksgiving dinner
Like my siblings get to do
Have to lie and say I'm just too busy for a guy
'Cause I can't tell them about you

Maybe I shouldn't be so bitter
But fuck it I am
They'll all tell me not to be upset
When they could never understand

And I hate that we have to hide
From the eyes of those who know us
But when I look into your eyes
I have no fear of what's below us
