There We Are

Maybe it's a good thing
I had fallen out of place
To see one's reflection
And not recognize one's face

So I maneuver
A train moving ahead
You move your feet and you smile
And I'm lost instead

Then wine from a coffee mug
A welcome, unexpected tug
I go to sleep in this train car
And when I wake up
There we are

Heads and hearts
Is a balance hard to find
But balance isn't really
What I had in mind

You only live once
Once the story has begun
And I know for certain
I want nothing left undone

So lay your back on the ground
There's not a single soul around
We'll fall asleep under the stars

Age brings a wisdom
It's quiet as a pulse
But if you listen carefully
It will tell you what you want most

So we look out
Out beyond what is ahead
A distance in the distance
A chapter to be read

Life is meeting strangers
In a journey on a train
We may board alone, but you and I
Where we end up is the same
