I Hate the World

I hate the world, and the world hates me

The rich get richer by starving the poor, the strong get stronger by crushing the weak
I am the poor, I am the weak
I am crushed and starved and the world goes on
Not a care for me
The rich need the poor to be rich, the strong need the weak to be strong
But they don't care for me

I hate the world, and the world hates me

Power feeds on deception
Thriving on information collection
Piercing my privacy in the name of protection
Power swells with corruption
Power lives for destruction
We are all destroyed, we just haven't noticed yet

Power can be bought, it can be stolen, it can be seized
But it can't be shared, not for long
Power exists only to destroy its enemies
We are all the enemy of another's power

I hate the world, and the world hates me

How can the weak resist the strong
How can the poor survive the rich
How can the used escape the user
What can I hope to change

Hope is a deception
It twists your perception
It whispers a lie in your ear that there is a better place
A brighter future
A reason to strive
A reason to struggle against the current that pulls us relentlessly out into the sea

The despair, the aching, the emptiness, the unfathomable dark depths
Of the grim, roiling ocean of human suffering
To live is to suffer, and suffering is born of desire
The desire to live free of oppression and cruelty
The desire to walk through life with a noble purpose
The desire to love without limits, and be loved

But freedom is just an illusion; nobility is meaningless in a savage society
And love is a formless fantasy in a cold, cruel world
How can I be free when I only have value to those that would use me
How can I be noble in a culture of insane, ravening animals
Why love in a world that will never value me
I hate the world, and the world hates me
