Half-Clenched Teeth

I need a holiday
From all these empty bitter days
How long can you say
This state you're in is just a phase?
Nobody here is fun
It's Hollywood without the sun
Bring out the big machines
This angry heart it weighs a ton

I check my vital signs
They seem alright
Still I could go at any time
I tried to meditate on what that means
And all I did was fall asleep
Trying to find a way out of these bitter days
Bitter days

Some people never change
They just get worse in their old age
Don't tell them I said that
Everyone's a little tense these days
And up on the pedestal
Sit all the things I thought were cool
I took them down a peg
When I learned it's all a ruse

I've had the Sunday blues since Monday's news
Since I had something left to lose
I'd like to take a spin in someone else's skin
And go out and take it on the chin
And find a way out of these bitter days
Bitter days
Bitter days

And around Christmas time I'll lose my mind
I get that way when it's cold outside
I'll leave the house out to the street
Through fear and doubt and half clenched teeth
I'll find a way out of these bitter days
Bitter days
Bitter days
