We Had a Funeral For a Bird

Anxiously awaiting
The arrival of his fate
After countless nights debating
It seemed like nothing ever changed
In accordance with his peers, he gets by on acting fake
After endless nights of waiting, his knees buckle from the weight

I say, "why- oh, why- my brother, must you live your life this way?
I've done all I can to help, but you keep lying to my face"
The man then screams to God, he says "is my life just a game?
And if that's the case then what if I decide I'm not to play?"

I'll plan my escape
From the treacherous hands of fate
And make way
To a place where all my memory will fade

He took his life that night
It's a shame, what a shame, what a shame
It all ended here with a knife
In the living room his father once said

He told them
"Your dreams are all you have
It may seem like nothing matters, but you must keep a level head
Just keep chasing, chasing
'Til your heels are bloody red
And I promise you my son, it's worth it all in the end"

Why didn't he listen?
He didn't remember

I took a life that night
I'm to blame, I'm to blame, I'm to blame
I took a life that night
I am to blame
