I just woke up from another dream
I saw you run into my arms in it
I told you I'd never let you go
But awake I remember that you're now just a ghost

I one time turned and ran away from you
Because forgetting made it easier
To deal with the pain of getting through
But my dreams only showed me I was less without you

I often think about my time with you
And all the dreams we never got to live
I wish I was told it'd all end soon
'Cause I now realize that I took it all for granted

I wish our lives weren't stuck on this highway
'Cause you're heading north, opposing my direction
You passed me by so quickly
But gave my life perspective
I only saw you for a second
But you should know I'm proud of you
You make me think of Heaven
Maybe I'll go there soon
I'll get to see how much you've grown
But 'till then I'm alone

When I found out you were leaving I had to question why
I saw the tears in your eyes and it brought a few to mine
But somehow I still felt alright
I'd rather bear the pain
Than take your place and leave you my fight
I hope she'll understand
I never knew I could love someone so far from me
But I can't stop the dreams of you taking that empty seat
Now after two whole years I still think of that road
And how you're headed home
Maybe someday soon you'll reappear
