Adage

Time wasted waiting hand and foot
Then falling head right over heels
One eye blinded, breaking even
But hindsight keeps my vision clear
Rose-tinted memories make me wonder
When did the world become so grey
The grass back then seemed so much greener
Unlike this black and white charade

This age-old adage lets me know
That someone else feels quite the same
I'm not the only one who feels
As if I'm living a cliché

I wouldn't go and hold my breath
That's a folly left to fools
Drowning deep within my sorrows
I sink to depths I never knew
Pushing hard against the grain now
These losing battles fought up hill
From a mound, there came a mountain
It's hard to swallow down this pill

This age-old adage lets me know
That someone else feels quite the same
I'm not the only one who feels
As if I'm living a cliché

Walking cautiously on eggshells
Afraid of shadows that I cast
A ll the signs I see are tell-tale
If I didn't cry, I'd probably laugh
Losing my grip on situations
I try to keep on holding on
My pride has given me a plate full
It's always the way before the fall
This age-old adage

I'm not the only one who feels
As if I'm living a cliché
I'm not the only one who feels
As if I'm living a cliché
I'm not the only one who feels
As if I'm living a cliché
I'm not the only one who feels
As if I'm living a cliché
