Get up Get up You're Liv'n the Dream
Get up, Get up your Liv'n the Dream
You cannot find till you walk it from behind
You cannot feel your flow, until you let it go
You cannot see if you don't let yourself be
Laced up sneakers, high tops in fact
Little loosy-goosy, grabbed my knapsack
Took a hike, that's right
Clouds were slate, cumulous, layered
The path I walked was weedy and feathered
Stream raced on, splashed my face
Knelt down, stayed in place
As I knelt, no bugs were a fly'n
Late late fall, crickets were a cry'n
River was frantic, like a lost wolf call
Frigid and racing currents with a swell
Removed my high tops, stumbled over rocks and all
Squarely, determined not to fall
Stood strong, like a wall
Kept my focus like a ding dong bell
But lost my balance and away I fell
That stream did clear take me down
Like a fish outta water on a hot summers day
Displaced rock top, and there I lay
Battered, tattered
Knocked down, and away
Laid down, held my stay
Upside bruised, rock side splattered
Tears like a clown, clung with a frown
Wishing to wash away
There above some hikers had gathered
I heard them scream
Get up, and what's the matter?
Get up, get up, you're liv'n the dream!
Got up, but looked obscene
Get up get up your liv'n the dream
Get up get up, upstream
Get up get up, there's no in between
Swept down hard, survived the crash
The journeys short, sprint and a dash
So get up, get up, before it's past
Rallied my spirit, although I wasn't near it
Like a hound dogs tongue, after a fox run
Shook myself off
Laced my sneakers, the high top reds
Knapsack home, sank into bed
Glad I was done, from the hike I'd spun
Reflected on, the day, come undone
I got up, got up, lived the dream
Got up, got up, upstream
Got up got up, no in between
Swept down hard, survived the crash
Journeys short, sprint and a dash
Got up, got up before it past
So get up, get up you're liv'n the dream
Get up, get up, upstream
Get up, get up, there's no in between
Swept down hard, survived the crash
