Drops of Rain

I watch the drops of rain patter on my window
Will they ever know what it's like
To be part of something bigger, an ocean or a river

Do they wish as they fall to the ground they had someone else to fall with?
Do they look around, do they find the clouds divulging droplets by design
Do they wait, do they hope, do they dare to dream
Of a new beginning as a brook or as a stream

Did they choose to fall from the clouds? Did they wish to strike the ground?
How will they return to that castle in the sky, so high?
It's just a matter of time

I watch the drops of rain with breathless anticipation
What can I learn from this resolute precipitation
There's something more, there's a hidden door
If it's true, I'll step on through

I walk through life and learn of my destination, setting expectations
See the beauty of the rain, feel its pain, gaining all that I can gain

But I'm not constrained by the rules of the rain, not restrained
I can make a change
I choose the direction that I go, the path that I follow
The road that leads me home

Did I choose to fall from the clouds? Will I choose to strike the ground?
I will make this life of my design, I'll climb
It's just a matter of time

I watch the drops of rain with breathless anticipation
What can I learn from this resolute precipitation
There's something more, there's a hidden door
If it's true, I'll step on through

I watch the drops of rain with breathless anticipation
What can I learn from this resolute precipitation
There's something more, there's a hidden door
If it's true, I'll step on through
