Anxiety

This year has been a catastrophe
Watched my whole life floating by absently
Following just behind as it tugs my leash
This life has been good and bad to me
Chemicals help me hold on to sanity
Slow things down enough to get some peace

Anxiety gets the best of me
Modern medicine doesn't quite compete
One day I'll learn to take control

I fear just about everything
Pulse shoots up when the phone or the doorbell rings
I imagine the car flying off the road
By now I've learned to live with it
I hang on tight when my heart starts to race a bit
Tell myself it probably won't explode

Anxiety gets the best of me
Modern medicine doesn't quite compete
One day I'll learn to take control
