The Midnight Bird

Cormorant fell from the sky
And it died upon your feet
Couldn't leave the king to rot
So you took its head off clean
I didn't understand just why
You said to carry death with me
There you go again
You're dwelling in the darkest place
I asked my mom about the omens
She said they just mean change

How come young wounds never heal
And how can I know to trust what I feel

You don't have to explain
You don't have to make sense of pain
When the midnight bird sings
When the ghosts just won't stop humming
It's a curse that calls on you
But you smile at the cost of truth

You don't have to explain
You don't have to make sense of pain
When the midnight bird sings
When the ghosts just won't stop humming
It's a curse that calls on you
But you always smile at the cost of truth
