Remembrance Day

The skies turn black on Remembrance Day

In the trenches their pride was keeping them strong
Though morale had long since gone astray
And grown men cried as they stood up to die
We salute them on Remembrance Day

And dreams of their wives, and lifestyles of old
Were just memories fading away
Through the torment they suffered, for the love of their land
We salute them on Remembrance Day

The skies turned black on Remembrance Day
In our hearts there was thunder
In our souls there was shame
The skies turned black on Remembrance Day
And the bugle sang out through the rain
On Remembrance Day

In the schools all the songs that the children would sing
Will remind us what happened that day
Through the minute long silence, and the poppies we wear
We salute them on Remembrance Day

The skies turned black on Remembrance Day
In our hearts there was thunder
In our souls there was shame
The skies turned black on Remembrance Day
And the bugle sang out through the rain
On Remembrance Day

Can you feel it burning, burning inside
At the site of the unknown soldier the tears
Are the scars that just won't go away
To their courage we owe everything that we have
We salute them on Remembrance Day

Like lambs to the slaughter
Just boys with their brothers at arms
Never knew what they fought for
Just armed with a kiss as their charm

The skies turned black on Remembrance Day
In our hearts there was thunder
In our souls there was shame
The skies turned black on Remembrance Day
And the bugle sang out through the rain
On Remembrance Day
