Smoke and Wind
Folks called it luck when the cat killed the coyote
The people all laughed when the wind swept over the sea
But no one said a word when it all came crashing down on me
Smoke and wind, looking for a way in through the window sill
I got caught staring at my shoes,
I opened up the door hoping for some good news
Sometimes you just can't find yourself any alibi, oh my
Sometimes you just can't find yourself in all this smoke and wind
The poet just laughed & then he cried when all of his words rang true
The people just smiled when the blind man said he could finally see
But no one said a word when the flames rolled down on the sea
Smoke and wind, looking for a way in through the windowsill
I got caught staring at my shoes,
I opened up the door I was hoping for some good news
Sometimes you just can't find yourself any alibi, oh my
Sometimes the river & the phoenix running dry in this smoke & wind
The mad man just sighed when the rain was pouring down on his face
He said he'd never seen such a dream that was blessed by fate
But no one said a word when it was ash falling down in its place
Smoke and wind, looking for a way in through the window sill
I got caught staring at my shoes,
I opened up the door I was hoping for some good news
Sometimes you just can't find yourself any alibi, oh my
Sometimes you just can't find yourself in all this smoke and wind
Sometimes you just can't find yourself in all this smoke and wind

I got caught staring at my shoes,
I opened up the door I was hoping for some good news
Sometimes you just can't find yourself any alibi, oh my
Sometimes you just can't find yourself in all this smoke and wind
Sometimes you just can't find yourself in all this smoke and wind
