I Gotta Move

I was born in Mali, 20 years ago
My family farming rice, millet and sorghum
But for the last two years, almost no rain fell
The river's getting dry, as well as the well

The desert is moving towards our village
Covering all the fields, houses and storages
The council assembled, took a decision
I am the chosen one, sent on a mission

I gotta move, I gotta go, I gotta see what's over there
Plenty of troubles ahead but I don't care
I gotta move, I gotta go and I'm going I swear
'Cause nothing can be worse than this nightmare

Life here was wonderful in the west of Yemen
Forgotten country by the Gulf of Aden
Hanging out with friends and playing football
I was a lawyer when started the war

Then I lost two kids in the heavy bombings
My great city has become a ruin
By standing here I have no future
It's time for me to go on an adventure

I gotta move, I gotta go, I gotta see what's over there
Plenty of troubles ahead but I don't care
I gotta move, I gotta go and I'm going I swear
'Cause nothing can be worse than this nightmare

After finishing great studies in Madrid
I sent hundreds of applications I swear I did
Like me most of my friends are unemployed
It isn't possible here to find a job
Going in circles for months in my room
Depression got me, I see my doom
Using my last savings, I get on a plane
In South America I'll take a chance

I gotta move, I gotta go, I gotta see what's over there
Plenty of troubles ahead but I don't care
I gotta move, I gotta go and I'm going I swear
'Cause nothing can be worse than this nightmare

I gotta move, I gotta go, I gotta see what's over there
Plenty of troubles ahead but I don't care
I gotta move, I gotta go and I'm going I swear
'Cause nothing can keep me in this nightmare
