Sail On

My grandfather was a sailor
Spent a life out on blue water
Searching for the schools that ran
The coast of Neah bay
And with his Nordic hands he built
The vessel "Marna Dee"
She's forty foot of steel and wood
And built to farm the sea

Sail on sail on
Until you find that place where you belong
Sail on sail on
For life is good for those who will be strong

His gentle way of living life
Forever is entwined
With aging hands that taught the art
Of tying fishing line
The lessons that he taught me then
Took years to understand
He said choose the work you love in life boy
And there you make your stand

Sail on sail on
Until you find that place where you belong
Sail on sail on
For life is good for those who will be strong

And then one day the message came
That he had passed away
The old man of the sea was gone
And I miss him to this day
For he's the man who told me when
The storms of life get rough
Hold on hold on

My grandfather was a sailor
Spent a life out on blue water
Rising long before the dawn
To sail us out to sea
And with his Nordic voice we'd hear
One day you'll be like me
So choose the work you love in life boy
And that will set you free

Sail on sail on
Until you find that place where you belong
Sail on sail on
For life is good for those who will be strong
Sail on
