Break Our Fall

We plant flowers to watch them grow
We follow patterns pretending we know
That the clouds will come and we'll watch for rainbows
Or watch for lightning that'll shatter our souls

Will we go down with the ship?
Will time break our fall?
Will we call the bluff and win nothing at all?
The fire is lit, will we walk out the door?
Will we still believe there is good anymore?

We dug the well now we're prayin' for water
Our hearts are good, but our stomachs will falter
The road ahead is as clear as the fall, dear

We'll end up strangers or end up friends
We'll have beginnings and we'll have ends
The path is narrow and sometimes long
And it spins us around and around and around

Will we go down with the ship?
Will time break our fall?
Will we call the bluff and win nothing at all?
The fire is lit, will we walk out the door?
Will we still believe there is good anymore?

We dug the well now we're prayin' for water
Our hearts are good, but our stomachs will falter
The road ahead is as clear

I try to do better, try to take my chance
But as long as there's love
I'll still be willing to dance

Will we go down with the ship?
Will time break our fall?
Will we call the bluff and win nothing at all?
The fire is lit, will we walk out the door?
Will we still believe there is good anymore?
Will we go down with the ship?
Will time break our fall?
Will we call the bluff and win nothing at all?
The fire is lit, will we walk out the door?
Will we still believe there is good anymore?

We dug the well now we're prayin' for water
Our hearts are good, but our stomachs will falter
The road ahead is as clear as the fall, dear
