Red Pen

I saw a red pen on a bench
Walking back from class
It must've wrote ten thousand words
It's cap was in the grass
It could've drawn a little portrait of the sky
But the sky is not red so I think the reason why
This red pen was left here on this bench was to
Give me a reminder of the little things in life

The things like strawberries on a Sunday afternoon
And a gentle saunter down along the boulevard in June
Taking turns on the trampoline; Imagine new realities
Where our world rotates round a great big red pen

I took that red pen home with me
Set it on my desk
It's ink was dripping down the side
I brought it to my chest
I looked around at all the divits and divides
It's an old, red pen, all the knowledge it provides
Well i, I had to write a little poem
To remember little things in life

And it goes like
Sitting swinging near a tranquil little lake
Or a birthday party set with lots of presents, food and cake
Laying down on the lawn; counting stars as you yawn
While the world gets written by a great big red pen

Is life written by a great big red pen
The whole worlds written by a great big red pen
This songs written bout a great big red pen
The whole worlds written by a great big red pen
