Layers

It was decided - I was on my way
I had my ticket, but no place to stay
Wasn't used to this maybe - To go by myself
But I would rather fly freely than be stuck on a shelf

I left my luggage in a two star hotel
All my troubles in a bottomless well
And I felt like a bird every step of the way
And every night like a brand new day

Come along to the places you - don't understand
It's a bolder decision to - learn how to fly
If you put your mind to it, just wait for the wind
It's a long way down if you don't spread your wings

I put a song from a record on
Did what they told me to; to follow the sun
Couldn't wait for rain to muddle my road
To leave me there out in the co-cold

I crash landed in Yosemite park
Struck diamonds when I looked at the stars
And I felt like a bird every step of the way
And every night like a brand new day

Come along to the places you - don't understand
It's a bolder decision to - learn how to fly
If you put your mind to it, just wait for the wind
It's a long way down if you don't spread your wings

It fades out - By the kiss of dawn
Stay awake until the bright star - Fades out
It fades out - By the kiss of dawn
By the kiss of dawn
By the kiss of dawn

Layer, upon layer
Layer, upon layer
Layer, upon layer
Layer, upon layer

It was decided I was well on my way
Had my ticket but no place to stay
I left my luggage in a two star hotel
And all my troubles in a bottomless well

Come along to the places you dont understand
It's a bolder decision to learn how to fly
If you put your mind to it - Just wait for the wind
It's a long way down if you don't spread your wings

Come along
Come along
Come along
