Doubt to Joy (Matthew 28B)

Tasked to guard against His rise
Struck by angel blazing bright
Soldier's frozen in their fright
Till roused by new sun's light
Gone the pure and blinding white
The empty tomb now filled their sight

Can it turn round? Doubt to joy, how?
Who can keep down, The Dead Man?
Hear the groaning of a Kingdom growing
Schemers falling upon His throne

Guards reported to those concerned
Detailed what they'd seen and heard
Their memories of lightning white
The Dead Man promising new life
Coin that shined before their eyes
Chief priests couldn't bury pride
Guards bought, spread pathetic lies
'We slept while they stole Him at night'

Can it turn round? Doubt to joy, how?
Who can keep down, The Dead Man?
Hear the groaning of a Kingdom growing
Schemers falling upon His throne

When Mary's carried news to men
They went to where He had said
In Galilee on His mountain
They bowed the knee to Risen Man
His Fire would soon live in them
But still some doubted it was Him

Will it turn round? Doubt to joy, how?
Can Death keep down, The Dead Man?
The remnant going to where He called them
Once Fire and water anointed Him

On mountain peak before eleven
All authority is given to Him
Go therefore to all nations
Teach them all that He commands
In Father, Son and Spirit's name
With water bring men life again

Can it turn round? Doubt to joy, how?
Who can keep down, The Risen Man?
Hear the groaning of a Kingdom growing
Schemers falling upon His throne
Will it turn round? Doubt to joy, how?
Is hope at last found in The Risen Man?
The faithful going to where He called them
Once Fire and water anointed Him

Watch it turn round? Doubt to joy, how?
The Risen Man now rules the worlds
Feel the quaking of powers shaken
A brand new nation is breaking in
Doubt still crept in at His ascension
But with Fire and water He anoints His men
Forever He will be with them!
