Silence Is All

But Father Heaven could not hear this
Because he does not exist
The boy screamed loudly into the empty void
And there was no one to call back, no one to hear
Emptiness resonated inside the chambers of the mind
And the boy resented its loneliness
Which surrounded him, in every way

There was a girl who felt similar to him
But they would never meet
Because the world had not found a way
To unite the souls of those who had everything in common
The world was filled with placards of countless empty things
And the people who wandered the streets
Never stopped to notice
The fallen who were just like them

Why do people assume that they are one-of-a-kind?
The one-of-a-kind know better
But there is no one else like them
And so, they wither into nothingness
And their gifts never see the light of day

Success is a cruel joke
It only happens to the ones who make believe
That everything is theirs, and no one gets a second chance
To unify the dreams
That could sustain their very lives

Whatsoever is the purpose?
On this march of time, we go
Shadows cast in front of us
And the light of sun behind

The golden age of youth is just a frozen memory
And the darkness of middle age foretelling what's to come
The day is lost, and the cowards won
The cowards who took everything
Because they could, and so they did
And now all of us are doomed to mere pennies
And now all of us are lost, like the shells of yesterday's tide
I suppose that it's no surprise, the hopeless have no alibis
