Gardener

Every dream I've had this week has taken place at night
Nothing in the sky, no planes passing by
When the sun emerges, I am baffled by its glare
Gold dust in the air
"Mornings are unbearable"

I said to No One
And they responded
"Oh, won't you miss it when it's gone?"
I closed the curtain
No glow could come in
Oh, I just haven't woken up

Everything I've felt this week has bent me like a spine
With vertebrae unlined, cracking more with time
Heavy breaths and loneliness and thinking about you
Sleep til afternoon
I know what is tried and true

Facing the reset
A wheel completing
Another turn around its star
But did you notice
Something between us?
You plant gardens with my heart
I thought you'd know this
Where all the colors go?
They surround each word you say
I can be patient
But I am waiting
For you to see it clear one day
