Doin' Time

What's gone wrong with this picture
Victory was not won
On the porch they laugh and they whisper
I've seen them there all along
Standing like an orphaned stranger
Standing all alone
Please take my burden away
The glory, is all gone

Show me something
I need some peace of mind
My dreams are fading out
And I need to buy some time
Down in this dungeon
The air is getting hard to breathe
The days keep passing me by
I'm a prisoner
Of my state of mind

I'm doin time here
In my own prison doin time

It's hard to live with this wisdom
And the misery it's become
On the porch I hear them talking
They point their fingers and run
Feeling like I walked in late
Feeling like I'm wrong
Where do I go from here
There's nowhere left to run

Show me the reasons
For all this anger and pain
My dreams are all but gone
Will I ever find another way
Down in this dungeon
The light I just cannot see
The years keep passing me by
I'm a prisoner
Of my state of mind

I'm doin time here
In my own prison
Doin time
