A Night in the Park

It started in the park
About a quarter to midnight
And as I waked along
All the pools of yellow lamp light
All the rest of the world
Started to fade away

Those thoughts that spent their time
Getting filed and shipped out
With every step I took
Out of my pocket they all dropped out
Into the dark abyss
Sea of uncertainty
Although I could be certain
She was waiting for me

And as I walked through the thin vale
Into the pure of the night
I couldn't make it all out
And I knew that she was right
Because she said
I wouldn't see her
But she would be waiting there
And as I turned the corner
Night started to take shape in her hair
I sat beside her
And I gave her a look
She turned and smiled
And that was all it took

We spent all night in that park laugh'in
I could feel her heart through a bra and a jacket
I could feel it next to me
As we laid under the paper moon

She looked for the stars through the orange canvas Hayes
Of the New York City lights
I looked at her lips
Trying to find all the courage
But the orange haze in my mind
Was just thick enough
To keep me hanging close but far from her

And with the dawn came reality
Rising over the ridge
She told me there was no French for good morning
So we strolled the bridge

And as I laid back in my bed
The post office thoughts were up
I had a girl at home
Lack of sleep
And a heart in Love
My eyes closed
I drifted off to sweeter things
It was Quarter past 10
Life couldn't better in a dream

And it all started in a park
It all started in a park
It all started in a park
It all started in a park
Started in a park
At a quarter to midnight
