The Remains

And out of the ashes
Grew a new will
The urge for significance
To consider the endeavour fulfilled
A life that once was
Memories now fading away
The purpose still not unveiled
Has all of it already gone astray?

Not knowing whatever to strive for
Now aware that there will be no turning back
Beyond the borders of any acquaintance
All that once was, now turned to black

The one thing that's certain
Is that the tides have turned
Broke out of (each and) every circle
Every bridge behind is now burnt
Where will this new road lead to
Will it keep abundance at bay
Apart from the growing emptiness
What will be the price to pay

Drawing nearer
Now every step becomes clearer
This journey's end clearly visible
The grand revelation almost tangible
What truth will be revealed?
What has been concealed?
What lies hidden that vindicates this fight
Was the message hidden in plain sight?

Doubtful searching
Indications
Light in darkness
Delving deeply
Tracks are leading
To riddle's solving

Driven into the stalemate,
There's no more way out
Trapped in the corner there will be no breakout
Abandoned all hope, it was predestined to fail
Nothing more to find
Nothing more to lose

Surrounded by darkness
The silence getting louder
A mind more confusing
Secluded from any conclusion

Oh, you are alone once again
I know what you have spoken to the darkness
Alone, in the bitter watches in the night
When all of your life seems to shrink
The walls once again, closing in on you
But you know what you found
To this message your fate will be bound
