Colorblind

All these places that I go, always so late to arrive
When I do I am not really there
But they're calling me on the phone
Like they know something that I don't all I know is it's been harder to care
In such casual conversations
We talk about the past and present ourselves in such a light
But all I hear is myself wondering
Which of my many demons gone and possessed me to come here tonight

But I know what to do, I walk in these shoes
Ain't telling no lies, just omit certain truths

The thing is nothing really changes
Each day's just been the same since hell
I can't even remember at all
So who's to say its not the role that I'm playing at the moment
That's exactly who you wanted to call
But I'm privy to the rotten floorboards
The stains in the carpet, the black mold in the walls
The city tried to tear this thing down
But I'm a heritage home I keep standing til the day that I fall

Cuz I know what to do with the nails and the screws
Sure she ain't built to last, but she's built to see through
So come on inside, there's nowhere to hide
We can paint this town blue, seems that everyone is colorblind
