Freedom

Considered myself a novice
According to the view of the optics
Just naive
Couldn't really see
All the gifts that's within me
Something clicked and said "stop this"
Everything I knew to be true
Come to find out, it was a ruse
To be honest, it was tragic
I was always Black magic
Free at last, just imagine

Stick and stones, they may break the bones
But some words hurt the same
Just to let you know
I was beaten down
Had to build me up
I believe in me
That's damn right
Now my story
Reads so bright

I was in a battle for some time
Now I can say that happiness is mine
It was I vs. me
Then him vs. he
Now we calling it freedom
Always trying to keep my spirit safe
Now the darkness done washed away
No more pressure on me
I fought for my peace
What you see now is freedom

Basically I've fought with myself
Placing all I needed on the shelf
Such a shame
Now you better know my name
First name starting with a C
Last name straight from Poppa J
I look around to see what could be my next move
I talk to God and He said "I knew you'd make it through"
I reply...
Thank you, thank you

Stick and stones, they may break the bones
But some words hurt the same
Just to let you know
I was beaten down
Had to build me up
I believe in me
That's damn right
Now my story
Reads so bright

I was in a battle for some time
Now I can say that happiness is mine
No more pressure on me
I fought for my peace
What you see now is freedom

I know we here looking back at what we been through
No success in taking the best out of you
So when you see a sunrise
He's shining His light
To tell you that it's your time

I was in a battle for some time
Now I can say that happiness is mine
It was I vs. me
Then him vs. he
Now we calling it freedom
Always trying to keep my spirit safe
Now the darkness done washed away
No more pressure on me
I fought for my peace
What you see now is freedom
