Mirrors

In the moonlight they lose sleep
Humming gentle melodies
Drifting slowly into deep thoughts
Then memories
Then dreams

Light cast through the doorway forming a dim light through the hall
Whispers crowd the shadows and to the walls they fix their eyes

Through the doorway a room seen lit
A candle burns near a book that rests at a table for two this night
The book is opened
The pages are read
As a mirror upon the reader it has
To see themselves as they really are
To behold The King and perceive His scars

All of us have left what all of us have done
Judgement standing near when all of us are gone
Where you found your life
Where you placed your love
Was it tripping there, where you ran your tongue
Hollow was in life
Hollow was in death
All that had enticed now consumed the flesh
Redemption speaks word
Tugging at the heart
A love draws kindly near to set you apart

Breath along the highway passing breath rising to its home
Scarcely it concerned those, though it struck the midnight hour

What factions mislead
What factions divide
Painting colors all gray that dishonor this life
With weighty decisions it fills up the heart
Revealing deceit that was there at the start
With ascetic tones a voice cries out
To defend the poor, as the helpless shout
Orphan and widow
The weak and lame
Bear witness to all who ignore their estate
