Down Sonnet

Oh here it comes around again
The strangest life I've ever known
I knew it was this way when it was begun
I've felt this way long since before I was grown

It's easy to level accusations
Or not to level them at all
Just slink away without explanation
And reject all of me while you stand tall

So proud, so vain, so full of hubris
So certain you are in the right
But you know that I would never do this
I'd walk you home on lonely nights

And you may want a lot of those things
But those things from me are insult to bring

Oh here it comes around again
The strangest life I've ever known
I knew it was this way when it was begun
I've felt this way long since before I was grown

It's easy to level accusations
Or not to level them at all
Just slink away without explanation
And reject all of me while you stand tall

So proud, so vain, so full of hubris
So certain you are in the right
But you know that I would never do this
I'd walk you home on lonely nights

And you may want a lot of those things
But those things from me are insult to bring
