The Great Pontificator

Piles and piles and piles of pictures
Overflowed in boxes in the garage
A great war was being waged for the future
Of a family soldiers on the march
Loading a 27 footer
Mothers attic with broken furniture
Hell on wheels and 4 teenagers
On our way to greener pastures

Heading north up from Houston never to return
The great pontificator was a hero among men
So say goodbye forever
To the shadows of where you've been
We're on our way to the the evergreen
Fields of Washington

I ain't ever seen the mountains
Flatlands all I'd known
Until douglas firs and cold winds
Welcomed us into their arms
There was a house in New Orleans
A ball and chain we'd known
But now our fearless leader was on a jailbreak
We were on the run

Integrity and loyalty are just words to some men
But our fearless leader made a home in them

Heading north up from Houston never to return
The great pontificator was a hero among men
So say goodbye forever
To the shadows of where you've been
We're on our way to the the evergreen
Fields of Washington
