Behind the Stone

I want you like the branches reaching for the sun
More than all the little shapes of sky in between
More than the silence of my footsteps on that long freedom road
Or the promise of the next bend in the stream
This distance is getting heavy like an old cinder block
Been carrying that thing around in my heart
I feel so far away from you
Standing six feet apart

And pastures are getting greener send them off to the old folk's home

And my hats off to all heroes everyday on the front lines
While mother nature just sits around and rolls her eyes and smiles

I'm just a lonely little mayfly on the water let the river take me down
Till again we can gather in the space behind the stone
Every color every shape every size every heart every soul
Send the love to my brothers and my sisters and the ones all alone
And Praise be to the rock train my hands for peace
And fortify my soul with your love
As we gaze upon the roses and we watch it all fall down
Try to find some way to rise above
