I know if I go he'll help my kids get into twelfth grade

Broken homes was the norm
Had to learn to cope
Put some water in the soap and read the word for hope
Until we learned that smoking dope was not outside the scope
But heights are not for everybody its a slippery slope
And momma told us keep our business in the house
So talking to a therapist was drowning in my doubts
But Calvins teachings taught me what to write and rap about
That's that higher learning fuck your clout I'm on a cloud

Far from being perfect and that makes me nervous
Man I be smiling through the surface trynna bottle urges
To fall back and close the curtains and be out of service
Im in a battle with myself Im like a walking versus
Barbecues outside the churches I see unity
Plotting how we can copy, past, and erase
The mistakes inside our community
Plus be integrated vertically and beautifully

And to love me regardless of what you learned form me
