Three Peaks

Three peaks where two fires of memory are burning
And one waits lonely and forgot
We all are living in a land where the sacred is gone
The cold stones calling my returning
Three sides of a prism and its light enclosing
The Adder Reservoir where I've never been
I want to go and I know that I'll find something there
I walked the path decades not knowing

I saw the first one in a memory
A quiet ceremony up by the quarry
The howling second under Gemini
Unchained the spirit while the skies were starry

The third has been calling to me alone
With a fire I have dreamed in the resting wood
Where the boon of the brook sent a fawn and a flame
Hidden by the highway I heard my name
At the unseen point at the center of the shape
I'll undress myself where there is no road
Where the boon of the brook sent a fawn and a flame
Hidden by the highway I learned my name

A life untitled, wandering, unwinding
In the court of the hills in trine

Dreaming fire but drowning in faith
Watching waves of time
Hey, ah

My winter's writing was the third peak's climbing
Twenty-five years to see the sign

Dreaming fire but drowning in faith
Watching waves of time
Hey, ah
