Bones

I almost painted a picture tonight
But I wrote this song instead
You'd be lying if you said that you'd never felt
That creeping existential dread
But I feel it in my bones
I hear kings quaking on their thrones

There are circus posters behind your eyes
Are you always looking for that clown
Are you looking for someone that's who knows where
Even though you know they'll let you down
Oh, you've broken all your bones
Like kings miles from their homes

Cassandra you know how things are gonna go
But nobody wants to hear you out
People don't hear what they know they'll fear
So you're met with a wall of doubt
But they feel it in their bones
And ignore the whispers in the stones

There's a fog on the ocean
There's a mist on the lake
There's a wind moving through the trees
I hope you find what you need
And never have to bleed
And are never driven to your knees
But when you're patching up your bones
Amongst the rubble of their thrones
Stop searching for that clown
It's only going to let you down
