When Johnny Met Suzie

Monday morning
7:45 AM
Listen

It was a special date for young Johnny Gate
Starting his 8th grade year in a different state
His momma yelled from the kitchen
"Johnny, don't be late!"
So Johnny rolled out of bed at a quarter to eight
Went to the kitchen
Ate the breakfast that his momma made
Finished his whole plate and a glass of lemonade
Johnny said, "I don't wanna go to school, momma
You know the drama that'll start cause I'm overweight"
His momma turned with a tear in her eye and replied
"Johnny, baby, I'll love you 'til the day I die
Your beauty's what's inside and some kids try to hide
Insecurities by making the other kids cry
I know you hate it but you can't let that temper flare
If they start saying something
Switch to a different chair
Now get outta here
Can't be late on your first day"
Johnny packed his lunch then went on his way
He's just a youngin' tryna make it in this cold, cruel world
Ever since his father left
His brain been like a whirlpool
Swirlin' with thoughts
Turned Johnny into a mad kid
Left him feeling all alone just like his dad did
He had no brothers, no sisters, no friends
Just a cousin down the street tryna make ends meet
He ran guns for funds, sold drugs, and pimped floozies
Johnny met him often for dime bags and smoothies
That's when his cousin opened his bag
Pulled out an Uzi and said
"Johnny, meet your new best friend Suzie
Suzie will protect you when them bullies come around
So when they start frontin, just gun 'em down"
Johnny said, "Thank you cousin
For all of your protection"
Little did Johnny know he was headed down the wrong direction
With affection, his cousin said
"Have a good first day"
Johnny packed up Suzie then went on his way

Yeah
And that's when Johnny met Suzie

It's lunchtime now
Johnny's favorite part of the day
His first four classes went okay
He's standin' in the lunch line when a voice shouted
"It's crunch time!"
Johnny turned and saw a 6'4" kid by the name of Ray
He had all of the pretty, popular girls around him
Known as the class clown
Whole cafeteria surrounding him
He downed four milk cartons in five seconds
Saw Johnny and said
"You're going up for thirds, I reckon?"
Johnny said, "Listen man, I want no trouble"
Ray said, "I think imma call you Mister McDouble"
Everybody started laughing
Johnny ran to the hall
Cause for the first time in his life
He felt small
Went to the bathroom
Locked himself in the stall
Finished his po boys where there was no noise at all
Until he heard a voice shout
"Hey fatty, you in there?
You got a choice punch to the face or a kick to the balls?
Ain't no hope in getting saved by the bell
This is my fourth year repeating
I don't care if I fail
I've had detention and suspension
And I've even been to jail
So imma feed you urinal cakes
I bet you like 'em, you big whale!"
Johnny zipped open his bag and looked at Suzie
He thought to himself
"Man, I can't let this kid abuse me"
Then the momma jokes started
Everything changed quick
Johnny's face got hot
And his stomach felt sick
He grabbed Suzie, kicked the door open, looked at Ray
Reaching for the Uzi, Suzie started to spray
Reckless ricochet
Now both bodies lay on the floor
Johnny chose Suzie and never saw his momma no more
