Vaudeville

I thought I'd be prepared for this at this point
In the lion's den, facing the stares, alone

Would they understand if I had to go back home
To get the notes I left, forget them somewhere, next to my tome

No option but improvisation

I have to dance to every music
Even the songs I've never heard
Can't leave the stage unless I amused them
With my skills or my suffer

Either they're grooving or they're booing
I have to keep my composure
You never know who's in there watching
A Hollywood scout, who knows?

I thought I wouldn't be on stage for that long
Or I'm doing great or the next act isn't done
(Hurry up!)

Every rest of material I had is already gone
And I can't say anything that can send me to prison

No option but improvisation

I have to dance to every music
Even the songs I've never heard
Can't leave the stage unless I amused them
With my skills or my suffer

Either they're grooving or they're booing
I have to keep my composure
You never know who's in there watching
A Hollywood scout, who knows?

So, boss, what do you have to say?
Did I nailed in my very first gig?
He says nothing, now I'm worried
I'm not fired, at least that's worth it
